CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – The Wyoming Department of Corrections has
received $242,000 in federal stimulus funds to strengthen its
education programs for state prison inmates.
Correctional Education Programs Manager Betty Abbott says the
funding is a “tremendous boost” to the department’s education
system.
Abbot says the funding will help the prison system provide
inmates with education and skills to be productive and stay out of
prison once they’re released.
The money will be used to pay for staff training and new
curriculum and programs. The funding will support Career Readiness
Certificate testing for inmates and help provide inmate access to
the state’s website for job hunters.
