Wyo. senators concerned about Internet rules

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – U.S. Sens. Mike Enzi and John Barrasso
have joined 35 other senators in voicing support for keeping the
Internet unregulated.
The Federal Communications Commission is looking at regulating
high-speed Internet access. The agency currently treats broadband
as a lightly regulated “information service.”
The Wyoming Republican senators and others wrote a letter to the
FCC chairman urging the agency to keep the Internet growing,
unregulated and accessible to all Americans.
Enzi says now is not the time to meddle in something that isn’t
broken.
Barrasso says any effort by the FCC to take regulatory control
of the Internet is misguided and reckless.
Among other things, the proposed rules would prohibit phone and
cable companies from prioritizing or discriminating against
Internet traffic traveling over their lines.
