Forum draws small crowd

Fremont County Attorney Brian Varn addressed the crowd gathered Thursday night for the political forum in Riverton.

The number of people who attended Thursday night’s political forum in Riverton just about matched the number of candidates who came to speak. All told there were about 50 people gathered in the Riverton Middle School gymnasium, but at least half, it appeared, were spouses and families of the candidates.

Only those running for county and state offices were invited, with the exception of those running for governor, and each were given an opportunity to introduce themselves and answer questions.

The evening was the second forum presented during the week through a joint partnership between the local Republican and Democratic committees. The other was held Wednesday night in Lander.
