BLM delays release of Gateway West study

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – The Bureau of Land Management is delaying

the release of its environmental study of a proposed

Wyoming-to-Idaho electric power transmission line.

The draft environmental impact statement for the Gateway West

Transmission Line Project was scheduled to be released this summer,

but that’s been pushed back to the last quarter of the year.

Idaho Power and Rocky Mountain Power propose to build the

1,150-mile line to carry wind and other power from Wyoming to Idaho

and other points.

The BLM says its delaying the document’s release to address

comments received during the internal administrative review process

as well as to clarify management objectives related to sage grouse,

visual and other public resources.

The BLM will hold a 90-day public comment period once the study

is released.
