buildings were already smoke free, so this new change now means smoking immediately outside the buildings by employees, patients and visitors will not be allowed.

Hospital administration believes the new smoke-free campus policy will impact patients the most. Those who have smoked or used tobacco products in the courtyard, outside the doors or in the parking lot will not be able to continue doing so, nor will smoking be permitted in cars parked on hospital property. This includes the medical office buildings and their grounds.

By the time the policy takes effect, all ashtrays and tobacco receptacles on the premises will have been removed.

The hospital has taken the no-smoking stand to further its mission of making a healthier community through the promotion of health and prevention of disease. According to statistics presented by the hospital, more than 1,400 Wyoming residents die each year in illnesses related to the use of tobacco.
