GUERNSEY, Wyo. (AP) – Wyoming has a new military regiment.
The 213th Regiment recently unfurled its colors at the General
Spence Armory in Guernsey.
The Wyoming National Guard says it is only the third regimental
military unit in Wyoming’s history.
Preceding the 213th Regiment was Wyoming’s First Regiment of
Infantry, which later became a cavalry regiment. The cavalry
regiment was disbanded in 1953.
Thereafter, the state’s primary combat branch became artillery
and subsequently the state did not have a regiment for about 44
years.
The regiment administers the Regional Training Institute, at the
Spence Armory, in Guernsey.
Primary instruction provided by the regiment includes Officer
Candidate School, rocket artillery, instructor training, along with
numerous smaller training.
Col. Scott Schofield is the current regimental commander.
