The Riverton River Rats squirt hockey team hosted the Sheridan Hawks Sunday at the Riverton Ice Arena. Sheridan defeated Riverton 3-2.

Sheridan scored early as Camdyn Cook lit the lamp at 1:55 in the first period. The game then became a defensive battle until Orion Garcia tied the score for Riverton putting a shot between the legs of the
Sheridan goaltender. The goal was assisted by Devon Harper.

The second period began with the teams tied at one goal each. 39
seconds in to the second period, Sheridan’s Ben Lavigne scored. Four
minutes later, Devon Harper tied the score for Riverton, lifting a
shot over the blockers of the Sheridan goalie. The goal was assisted
by Sam Shepardson.

Sheridan would score the game winning goal at 2:14 in the third
period. Riverton net minder Kadin Brink stopped 22 of 25 shots in the
loss.

The squirt team consists of players ages 9-10. Next up for the
Riverton squirts is a game against the Laramie Outlaws, Friday night
at 7:30 at the Riverton Ice Arena.
