Heavy snowfall limits visits to Yellowstone

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. – Officials at Yellowstone National Park say heavy snows kept people away from the park this winter. Visitation was down five percent in the three month period of December through March. That translates to 5,000 fewer visitors, down to 89,000 from 94,000 the winter before.

The number of snowmobile riders who visited the park was up slightly this year. But the number of visitors who came by auto, bus and RV through the park’s northern entrance was down nearly 12 percent compared to the same period a year ago.
