The Riverton Wolverines soccer teams yesterday both Won their respective matches against cross town rival Lander Valley, the score for both games was 2-0.

The Lady Wolverines would get two goals with about 6 mins. remaining in the first half. Alexis Oakes would score at the 34 minute mark and Baylee Stafford would get a goal at the 39 minute mark before the horn sounded. This would be enough for the Riverton squad as the defense would take over and keep Lander Valley out of their end most of the second half. The Lady Wolverines would celebrate the win and get the Traveling Trophy after it had been in Lander’s possession for the last 3 years.

The Lady Wolverines now have the Easter weekend off, and will get ready to travel to take on  Green River and Rock Springs next Friday and Saturday.

The Riverton boys would come out hard, fast and score early in the first half with Jarrett Watson picking up his (unofficially) 1oth goal on the season at the 18 minute mark. The Wolverines completely dominated the first 40 minutes, holding Lander to just 2 shots and only one on goal.

The second half again Riverton would control most of it, until Lander started to get stronger and get inside the Riverton end and give Logan Ridgeway a few chances to make saves. The 71st minute saw again Watson get  down the side and beat his defender to get a shot on goal that ricocheted off the post and came back out when he would get another attempt and it would get by the goal keeper and the defenders. This would be the final tally and the boys would keep the Traveling Trophy with a 2-0 shut out.

The Wolverines now have the Easter weekend off, and will get ready for Green River and Rock Springs next Friday and Saturday at home.
