CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The federal government plans to release data today on samples taken from Pavillion’s water wells as it holds a public hearing in the region that blames gas drilling for pollution.

The public meeting will be held tonight, at 6:30, at the Wind River High School in Pavillion.

Spokesman Rich Mylott says the EPA will release data on samples taken from two specially drilled monitoring wells and on additional sampling from domestic water wells.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says it won’t reveal any conclusion based on the data. Some residents blame gas drilling for polluting their water wells with hydrocarbons although any such link has not yet been proven.
