RIVERTON, Wyo. — Riverton Police Capt. Eric Murphy said officer Cody Myers’ nomination as director of the Region 8 division of the School Resource Officers Association is a great honor and perfect fit.

The captain said Myers has the leadership skills and is well revered throughout the region.

Myers said being a part of Region 8 is beneficial because it brings together school law enforcement expertise from 10 different states.

He’s accepted the position on an interim basis, through July, at which time he’ll make the decision to run for the fulltime post. He remain a School Resource Officer with the Riverton department, taking on the directorship would just mean possibly dropping one or two of his outreach teaching opportunities.

Myers was named School Resource Officer of the year by the association in 2010 and was awarded the WREN Solutions Scholarship, which paid for Myers to finish his Associates Degree.
