Spoonhunter, Yellowfox get prison time

By KVOW/KTAK News Director Leslie Stratmoen

RIVERTON, Wyo. — In a sentencing release issued today by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Cheyenne, we’ve learned that two members of the Northern Arapaho Tribe of the Wind River Reservation in Fremont County will see jail time.

26-year-old Phillip Spoonhunter was sentenced to five years in prison for involuntary manslaughter and 23-year-old Blaine Yellowfox got eight months for escape from an institutional facility where he was being held on a conviction of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

According to the release, Spoonhunter pleaded guilty to the charge. He was the drunk driver in a crash that killed two people. Yellowfox failed to return within the time prescribed to the Community Alternatives center of Casper.

Both were sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal.
