Joanne L. “Joby” Hearth of Lander

Joanne L. “Joby” Hearth, 80 of Lander, died at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander on Tuesday, March 13.  Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.  Joanne L. Brainard was born in Sacramento, Calif., on July 3, 1931, the daughter of Carl Winn Brainard and Helen V. (Chapman) Brainard. She attended Grant High School in North Sacramento, Calif.  Mrs. Hearth was a homemaker, having married Donald R. Hearth on Nov. 27, 1949, in Sacramento.  She was of the Episcopal faith.  Mrs. Hearth was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority and the International Society of Poets.  Her family said she enjoyed cooking, sewing, drawing, reading, and writing poetry.  Mrs. Hearth worked for the telephone company for nearly two decades, starting as an operator and advancing to the engineering department as a draftsperson.  The family lived in various locations in California and Nevada when Mr. Hearth was transferred with the telephone company. The couple moved to Lander in 1992, back to Winnemucca, Nev., in 2004, and returned to Lander in 2008. Mrs. Hearth is survived by her husband, Donald R. Hearth of Lander; a daughter, Donae Bezanson, and son-in-law, Richard Bezanson, both of Lander; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Helen Brainard, and a sister, Aletha Sewell.  Memorials may be made to the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority of Amedisys Hospice, in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 West Main St., Riverton, WY 82501.  On-line condolences may be made at:   Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton
