RIVERTON, Wyo. — People are burning brush across the county and not calling in their plans. That means fire fighters are getting called out, needlessly, in some cases.

Just overnight, 15 reports of fires came in for the Fremont County Fire Protection District – from rural Riverton and Lander to Pavillion, Kinnear, Crowheart and Ethete. All were controlled burns, meaning they were set intentionally by property owners.

That is, sometimes, necessary, but Chief Craig Haslam asks that property owners be responsible. To hear more of what he had to say go to the top and listen to the live broadcast.

The fire departments of Riverton and Dubois also got called out overnight – to grass fires on Cooper Road and in the Dunoir Valley. And yet another controlled burn was reported on West Ramshorn in Dubois.
