RIVERTON, Wyo. — Riverton city officials plan to demolish an old cleaners building on Main Street, build an office for a state investigating agency in the business park by the community airport and extend Broadway north to Webbwood Road. The cost of the three projects totals $758,000.

The most expensive is the extension of the road, coming in at $683,000. City leaders say the extension will provide the alternate route needed through town when the state transportation department rebuilds North Federal two years from now. The underground utilities are already in place.

Mayor Ron Warpness was skeptical about the city paying for a new facility for the Division of Criminal Investigation. But Councilman Lars Baker thinks the $53,000 to be spent on the project is a good investment. Doing the work there will be the Sehnert construction company of Riverton.

Demolition costs to tear down the old Daisy Cleaners building on the Main Street corner across from the Post Office comes in at $22,000. Once the building’s down, the city plans to put the property up for sale. It was purchased for $60,000.

Bornhoft Construction of Riverton has been contracted to extend the road and demolish the building.
