RIVERTON, Wyo. – If you don’t lock the doors of your home, this might be a good time to start. Riverton Police Chief Mike Broadhead says there’s an opportunist out there walking into unlocked houses and stealing cash, even in the middle of the day and when someone’s there, but working outside nearby.

He went on to say his department is working with the sheriff’s office to solve the case, which at this point includes about a dozen burglaries.

Sheriff’s reports show a half dozen burglaries in the past couple days, of homes on Burma and Delfelder Roads. In one, the burglar came in through a window and took a money bag and went through clothing pockets. In another, the burglar found a hidden door key and put it back in place after taking a piggy bank and a sack of quarters.

By late this morning, Riverton police had announced the arrest of a 19-year-old female in connection to the case, but the exact charges were not released.
