Little League Championship Game Goes 7 Innings

Riverton: The Athletics and Cardinals would battle for 6 innings last night in the Little League Championship Game for the Majors (11-12 yr olds) and go into the the 7th inning before it would be decided by 1 run.

The Cardinals had held the edge 3-1 in regular season games but it was the A’s who would come from behind in the 3rd inning by sending 11 to the plate and scoring 6 runs on 5 hits to take the lead in the game 7-2.

The Cardinals though came back in the bottom of the inning with 4 runs on 1 hit to get back within 1 run 7-6. The 4th inning the A’s again would plate 3 runs to go up 10-6, but see the Cardinals once again come back with 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to tie the game at 10 a piece.

Both teams had changed pitchers from their starters and it would come down to the 7th inning. The A’s would get 2 runs on 1 hit and a wild pitch to take a two run lead in to the bottom of the 7th. The Cardinals would start with a double but watch the runner get thrown out at third trying to advance on fly ball and would be down to the final out when Hayden Wempen would hit a double and then score  on an error by the second baseman. With a runner on second the Cardinals had one more chance to tie the game, but the next batter grounded out to second and the A’s would Win the game.

Congrats to both teams, Great Game!

Congratulations also to the Orioles who beat the Giants 6-4 to Win the Minor Championship Game
