RIVERTON, Wyo. — The Riverton Rotarians will be racing rubber duckies next month to raise money for polio research. For the event, organizers say more than 1,000 ducks will race down the Wind River to support the worldwide eradication of the debilitating disease.

The ducks will take to the water on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 2 in the afternoon from the Rotary Fire Pit on the south end of First Street, just west of the Fremont County Fairgrounds.

Ducks, or rather tickets, can be purchased in advance at the Riverton Chamber of Commerce office, Jerry’s Flowers or First Interstate Bank, all on Main Street. A derby duck goes for $10 or as a Quack Pack of six for $50.

Prizes include a hunting trip, freezer, golf outing, casino getaway package and dinner for four.

News Director Leslie Stratmoen interviewed Organizers Darla Mason, Lindsey Anderson and Ken King on KVOW’s Chit Chat, July 24, 2012. To listen to the showCLICK HERE
