RIVERTON – Riverton’s Superintendent Terry Snyder said the school district plans to have a head coach hired by the end of next week, just in time for football camp that starts in June. The head coach will then be charged with hiring eight or nine assistants. The department’s facing an overhaul because of an uproar over the controversial release or firing of nearly all of the assistant coaching staff.

That launched school officials into an in-depth internal investigation as to what was happening in the football program. As a result, Head Coach Jeremy McCormick resigned, which was a move that became official last night during the board’s regular meeting.

The superintendent went on to say it will be the newly hired head coach who will pick his assistant coaching staff because that’s the way it’s done at the school for all of the sports programs.
