Riverton Names New Head Football Coach

Riverton: – Officials at Riverton High School Friday announced that an Idaho coach will become the new head coach at RHS this coming fall.

“We had three excellent candidates as finalists,” said incoming RHS Principal John Griffith. “It was a tough decision.”

A 23-year-coaching veteran, Pat Patterson from American Falls High School, is the new coach. He spent the last four years at American Falls.

The appointment of Patterson will be ratified at Tuesday’s Fremont County School District #25 Board of Trustees meeting.

Patterson will replace Jeremy McCormick, who resigned this month after he released three assistant coaches and four others resigned in protest.

“The new coach will not inherit a coaching staff, as McCormick did, but will have a chance to pick his own assistants,” Superintendent Terry Snyder said at a news conference announcing McCormick’s resignation.

Patterson is expected to begin interviewing prospective assistants this coming week.
