(Riverton) — A blow to the head with a beer bottle caused the death of 65-year-old Charles Laster in Shoshoni last month, according to testimony this week at the preliminary hearing for the man charged with second degree murder in the case.

Shey Elan Bruce, 45, will be bound over to district court to stand trial on the charge.

Fremont County Sheriff’s detective Eric Granlund testified for the prosecution he responded to a call to the Laster residence May 14 and the victim told him Bruce had hit him in the head with a bottle.

Laster was found dead the next morning.

An autopsy determined he died of injuries related to blunt force truama caused by a blow to the head.
