Raiders split with Lovell at Home

The bats were busy at Roy Peck Field on Wednesday, and when the dust cleared the Raiders had a 10-9 win over Lovell in seven innings.

The teams banged out 25 hits hits between them, as well as five for extra bases.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the fifth, with 10 lead changes.

The Raiders pulled out the win thanks to a strong fifth inning. The Raiders went up for good on an RBI single by Ridge McCoy off Dillon Pickett, scoring Baylor Beers.

Devin Matsen got the win in relief for the Raiders. Devin pitched three innings and allowed no runs.

The Raiders’ Nathan Hatfield, Baylor, Rusty Davis and Ryan Axthelm combined for eight hits and five RBIs.

Lovell jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Lovell’s rally started when Calder Forcella singled.

It didn’t take long for the Raiders to answer as they scored three runs of their own in the first. The Raiders scored on an error and a sacrifice fly by Delbert Wichelhaus.

The second game would see the Raiders take a 6-1 lead going into the 3rd inning, but then the bat’s would go silent with only 4 hits and no runs over the next 5 inngs. The Mustangs came back to score in the 3rd,4th and 6th and 7th innings to put up 7 runs on 5 hits to Win the game 8-6. Up next for the Raiders will be the Bollen Tournament in Douglas starting on Friday through Sunday.
