RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) — Two people were taken to the hospital after a fire at the Sinclair Oil refinery east of Rawlins.

Sinclair Oil vice president Clint Ensign said Tuesday’s fire in the crude unit was “minor” and involved an independent contractor working there.

The Rawlins Daily Times reported that condition of the two people taken to the hospital wasn’t known.

The refinery has had several accidents and releases over the past several years and hired five more safety experts this year.

CASPER FLOODING

At least 4 Casper-area homes damaged by flooding

(Information in the following story is from: Casper (Wyo.) Star-Tribune, http://www.trib.com)

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — At least four homes have been damaged by flooding in the Casper area.

Some of the worst damage in Monday night’s flooding was east of the city, just below the area burned by the Sheepherder Hill Fire on Casper Mountain last year.

It included the brand new home of the Mosteller family. Mary Mosteller told the Casper Star-Tribune that muddy water filled the garage and first floor. Four motor vehicles and some all-terrain vehicles were also swept away by the water.

The National Weather Service says the area east of Casper received a half inch to three quarters of an inch of rain.

There’s a chance of more thunderstorms there through Saturday.

WYOMING-GORDON

UW women’s player faces charges in house party

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming sophomore forward Whitney Gordon faces charges stemming from a house party in her hometown of Marion, Kan.

Prosecuting attorney Brian Bina says the charges against Gordon mainly involve providing alcohol to minors but include one count of interference with law enforcement.

Gordon has an initial court appearance set for next week.

According to police, they were called to Gordon’s home on July 12 and found 27 people, including many minors in possession of alcohol. Police say Gordon’s parents were out of town at the time.

UW coach Joe Legerski said in a statement that the situation was being closely monitored.

The 6-foot-2 Gordon played sparingly as a true freshman last season, appearing in eight games and scoring just 2 points.

GRIZZLY RELOCATED

Grizzly bear relocated from Teton campground

MOOSE, Wyo. (AP) — Wildlife managers have captured and relocated a young grizzly bear that had been frequenting a campground in Grand Teton National Park.

The 212-pound male bear was radio-collared and released Monday northwest of Grand Teton.

The National Park Service says the 3- to 4-year-old grizzly had been frequenting the Lizard Creek campground for several days as it actively foraged on native vegetation. Efforts by park rangers and biologists to haze the bear away from the campground were unsuccessful.

The grizzly was not a food-conditioned bear, and it did not receive any human food rewards during the time it remained in and around the campground. The decision to relocate the animal for public safety resulted from its repeated and frequent return to the campground, and its relative ease around people.
