(Riverton) — Monday afternoon, 71-year-old Gerald Uden was ordered to be held without bond related to the alleged murder of his wife and her two children in Fremont County more than 33 years ago.

Uden had his initial appearance on three counts of first degree murder before Ninth District Court Judge Wesley Roberts who concluded it is appropriate to hold the defendant without bond since he is accused of crimes that could result in the death penalty.

Virginia Uden and her sons went missing in September of 1980 from a home in Riverton after the defendant allegedly invited them to go hunting.

Uden will have a preliminary hearing next Wednesday at 9 a.m.
