Slash Piles to be Burned

Submitted by rebecca on December 4, 2013 – 11:34 amNo Comment
(Cody) — With winter conditions having arrived, the Washakie and Wind River ranger districts of the Shoshone National Forest plan to burn hand constructed and mechanically built slash piles of timber as weather allows.

The work will be conducted in the upper Wind River, Horse Creek and Sinks Canyon areas.

In addition, two community piles will be burnt, one near the Pass Creek subdivision south of Lander and another near the Union Pass subdivision outside Dubois.

Smoke from the fires may be visible throughout the Wind River Basin and the projects may last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
