Seat Belts Save Lives

(Riverton) — Bob Potter of Riverton wears his seat belt every time he drives and that decision saved his life and the lives of his passengers in a roll-over accident January 5th south of Lander.

Potter, 61, was driving a Wind River Transportation Authority bus that slid off Red Canyon Road and rolled over at least one time but Potter and his three passengers emerged from the crash with no injuries except for a few bumps, bruises and scratches.

Although WRTA is not allowed to require seat belt use, bus drivers are diligent in asking passengers to buckle up and the incident validates their reason for doing so.

Potter, who drove for a bus for KTAK-KVOW’s “Stuff the Bus” Christmas toy drive, has been nominated for the seat belt survivor award.
