(Cheyenne) – A study completed for the Wyoming Department of Transportation’s Aeronautics Division finds the state’s 35 public-use airports generate a combined $1.4 billion in economic activity in the state annually.

The study estimates over 12,000 jobs in the state are related to airport operations and the associated payroll for those jobs is over $526 million.

According to the study, visitors who arrive in Wyoming on commercial flights spend over $547 million annually.

The research documents how Wyoming airports support businesses, tourism, agriculture, hospitals, emergency services and education.

The project concluded there are approximately 38,000 addition jobs in Wyoming that rely on or benefit from aviation on a regular basis.
