Mary “Lucy” Harris

Mary “Lucy” Harris, 70, of Riverton died at her home on Monday, June 2, 2014.
Memorial services will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Lucy Martinez was born on August 26, 1943 in San Bernadino, CA to Eduardo and Felipe (Montoya) Martinez. She was one of eight children. Shortly after she was born, the family moved to Riverton. She attended schools in Riverton and earned her G.E.D. from Central Wyoming College.

She was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith.

On June 7, 1959, she married Carlos L. Harris in Lander. They spent 54 years together and they had three children, Gary, Jace, and Tania. She was a full time homemaker, but also worked.

She worked for Milu’s Boot Shop as a clerk and at Lee’s Cleaners as a presser.

Her family said that she enjoyed knitting, painting, gardening, cooking, reading, and being a homemaker.

She also enjoyed studying and teaching others about the Bible.

She is survived by her husband, Carols L. Harris of the family home; her daughter, Tania M. Nevarez and her son-in-law, Luis Nevarez; her sons, Gary L. Harris and Jace T. Harris; her brother, Arturo Martinez; her grandchildren, Ethan Nevarez, Talea Nevarez, and Basil Harris; and her one great grandchild, Kaidyn Nevarez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo and Felipe Martinez, her sisters, Angeline Harris, Lupe Parten, Lena Crippen, and Mary Mills Martinez; and her brothers, Gilbert Martinez and Joe Martinez.
